A dessert desert on the culinary coast? Not quite.

I was blessed enough to go to a college or university in which the room and board approach provided, in today’s parlance, “all-you-can-eat” meals.

So, many of us took two desserts, the 1st to be liked prior to the “mystery mound” main study course, and the other afterwards.

As a dues paying member of the Culinary Coast, and it should really be famous that the membership prices go up each individual period, I have loved several a distinctive dessert at our local dining places.

Nonetheless, in spite of the region’s epicurean skills, it lacks a dish (or bowl) that would be acknowledged locally and nationally as the signature coastal dessert. Maryland can cite its Smith Island Cake, and Massachusetts has its Boston Cream Pie (which actually is a cake as effectively).

Peach pie

But what about Delaware? Back in summer time of 2009, the Common Assembly, in its infinite wisdom, did designate peach pie as the official condition dessert.

Even though this is attention-grabbing in the context of our dialogue, and no doubt kinds a line on the resumé of one particular or much more of our point out representatives or senators, it does not feel to have pushed peach pie to the pinnacle of our local menus.
